This year is a special one for us: Treur Kaas is celebrating its 70th anniversary! A milestone we proudly acknowledge. What started with Evert (grandfather) Treur’s first steps in the cheese world has grown into a family business known for its artisanal quality cheeses.

How It All Began…
In March 1955, Evert Treur began learning the craft of cheese trading. With his bicycle bags fully loaded, he visited various cheese traders to offer his cheese. With a passion for cheese and a keen eye for quality, he took his first steps into a world that immediately fascinated him. His love for cheese grew, and he soon decided to further develop his knowledge and skills.
What started as a modest adventure quickly turned into a thriving business. Grandfather’s dedication and craftsmanship laid the foundation for Treur Kaas, which has since grown into a specialist in Dutch cheese.

Over the Years
A lot has happened over the past 70 years. From delivering cheese by bicycle to purchasing a car. As business flourished, grandfather bought a warehouse—only to later purchase an even bigger one. Even the second warehouse became too small. In 1981, Evert Treur decided it was time for a new approach and bought a piece of land along the Oude Rijn, where the company is still located today. You can read the full story on our ‘History‘ page.

The Treur Kaas Brand Identity
Do you remember the orange/purple branding of Treur Kaas? That was our identity for years. All employees wore purple polo shirts, and even the truck cabins were purple.

In 2019, we decided it was time for a complete rebranding. Everything changed! The orange and purple colors were replaced with blue and yellow. The polo shirts were no longer purple but dark blue. Of course, the trucks got a fresh new look, and a new website was launched.

A Family Full of Cheese Lovers
Treur Kaas has always been and will always remain a true family business. Grandfather’s knowledge and passion have been passed down to the next generations, who have further expanded the company. The second generation (Daan Treur) and the third generation (Eduard Treur) have now taken over the reins. By combining craftsmanship and innovation, Treur Kaas strives to surprise you time and again with flavorful cheeses that make their way to cheese shops, wholesalers, and delicatessens both in the Netherlands and beyond.

A Future Full of Flavor
As we look back on 70 wonderful years, we also look ahead. We remain committed to sustainability, personal service, and, of course, the highest quality cheese. One thing is certain: cheese is in our DNA, and that will never change.
A big thank you to all our customers, partners, and cheese lovers over the past 70 years. Here’s to the next 70!
