Cheese Farm Schep in Bergambacht is run by Jaap and Rianne Schep – de Wit. Together with their children Tim and Eva, they live and work on the farm, which now has about eight hundred cows. Jaap and Rianne are the 8th generation of farmers, and Tim is now fully involved in the business to take it over in the future as the 9th generation.

The cows are spread over two locations, and cheese is made six days a week, with their specialty being the 60-kilo cheeses. The cheeses are highly appreciated, as they regularly win awards, including the Cum Laude Award for the best farmhouse cheese in 2010.

The necessary energy is generated by solar panels, and the water needed for the cheese factory is heated with solar collectors. Additionally, the family contributes to the preservation of the typical Dutch polder landscape and protects meadow birds through landscape management.
