On Thursday, June 27, 2024, various awards were again presented at the Show International Cheese & Dairy Awards. And we can proudly say that several of our cheeses also won awards!
The show and judging
The International Cheese & Dairy Awards takes place annually in the summer. Our Account Managers Eduard Treur and Willem-Jan Oudehinken were present at the show, also every year we send in several cheeses for the judging. A professional jury judges the cheeses. Cheeses from all over the world participate in this competition and are divided into several categories, including for example: best organic cheese, goat cheese, Dutch cheese, sheep cheese, herbed cheese and much more.
Award winners
We had a total of 11 cheeses submitted for judging and as many as 8 went home with an award! That is a very nice score. Please find below the award winners:
- Mèkkerstee Old – GOLD
Mèkkerstee Old is a delicious organic goat cheese prepared according to traditional methods. The cheese has matured for no less than 1 year and has a spicy character. An organic goat’s cheese with a rich aroma. - Twisca Piquant – GOLD
A longer maturation ensures the typical sheep taste. Twisca Piquant owes its full, creamy taste to its high form, but above all to the North Holland pasture where the dairy sheep can graze in abundance. - Chevretta Blue – GOLD
Creamy goat cheese with a blue mold culture. This 3.5 kg Chevretta goat cheese has been aged for about 8 weeks to reach this sublime taste. Deliciously creamy and soft in texture, but with a characteristic, specific blue mold flavor. The beautiful blue veins are clearly visible in the dairy. - Chevretta Old – SILVER
A North Holland goat cheese that is approximately 1 year old. This long aging time provides a characterful flavor and beautiful protein crystals in the dairy. A goat cheese with a firm structure. - Daniel’s Selection Premium Truffle / Villa Truffo – BRONZE
The combination of Dutch farmhouse cheese and the intense flavor of black truffle is outstanding! Villa Truffo is particularly creamy in texture thanks to the short ripening time (8 weeks), but pronounced in flavor thanks to the pieces of truffle! A real luxury cheese from the farm. - Villa Roma – BRONZE
The Villa Roma is a young cheese from the farm. Approximately 4 weeks matured, so still very creamy and soft in texture. This farmstead cheese is made with cow’s milk and has an addition of various herbs and spices: Fenugreek, leek, chili, garlic, paprika and lovage! This creates a delicious, fresh/spicy flavor. - Weydeland Rijck – BRONZE
Weydeland Rijck is a wonderful crumbly cheese! The cheese has had a long maturation period in the warehouse. As a result, the cheese has a very ripe flavor and crumbles. The small ripening crystals that are in the cheese crackle in the mouth. The Weydeland Rijck is full of aromas and is full of character. - Happy Mrs Jersey Old – BRONZE
This organic Jersey cheese made from 100% Jersey milk. The cheese has aged for 1 year on wooden boards. The cheese contains a beautiful crystal and its structure is still very creamy. A real specialty!
